Raleigh, N.C. — Rain and storms were quieting down on Friday afternoon after a downpour on Friday morning, making way for cooler temperatures and sunny skies.

A flood advisory was still in place for communities south of Wake County near Fayetteville and Dunn. Heavy storms were still dumping rain on Dunn, Selma and Kinston on Friday at around noon, but the brunt of the storm is expected to be over, according to WRAL meteorologist Anthony Baglione.

Temperatures on Friday were 78 degrees in Raleigh and Durham, with dew points in the upper 60s.

"That's a lot better than what we've been tracking here for a large chunk of this summer," he said.

There could be a stray shower in the Triangle near Raleigh and Durham this afternoon but it should not disrupt your plans like this morning.

As much as 4 inches of rain fell Thursday night and early Friday morning in parts of Wake County. There were multiple crashes on Interstate 40 and Interstate 440 before 8 a.m. as downpours rolled through the Triangle.

"Ponding on the roads could still be an issue," Baglione said.

Friday afternoon will feel pleasant, but a more noticeable change arrives Saturday morning, when dew points will drop into the 50s.

WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell said low temperatures will be in the 60s Saturday morning, which central North Carolina hasn't seen since June 20.

Isolated storms and comfortable temperatures will continue into next week and are expected to last at least until Wednesday.

According to Baglione, we likely won't see 90-degree weather for the next week or so.
