Apricorns are important crafting materials for Poke Balls in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and here are three ways trainers can gather them.

For the first time in the Pokemon series, Pokemon Legends: Arceus allows players to craft man-made items. Normally, man-made items such as Poke Balls or Potions could only be bought at Poke Marts or found lying about in the wild. Now, trainers still have the option of purchasing items from the store in Jubilife Village, but trainers also have the Crafting mechanic at their disposal.

Poke Balls are an absolute necessity in Pokemon Legends: Arceus thanks to the Pokedex's research tasks. Thus, it's easier to just use the Crafting Kit and make Poke Balls instead of rushing back to Jubilife Village to buy more. There are different types of Poke Balls in Legends: Arceus, but they will always require a type of Tumblestone and an Apricorn. Players should get into the habit of collecting Apricorns as they explore the vast Hisui region so that they can craft wherever, whenever.

Apricorns were first introduced in Pokemon Gold/Silver and made a return in HeartGold/SoulSilver and Sword/Shield Expansion Pass. Trainers could inspect certain trees and sometimes get an Apricorn instead of a Berry. There are seven types of Apricorns, but only one type of Apricorn in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Originally, Apricorns were given to a man named Kurt in Johto's Azalea Town. Depending on the color of the Apricorn, Kurt could make different types of Poke Balls to make catching Pokemon easier. In the Pokemon lore, Apricorns were used in the creation of Poke Balls before modern Poke Balls came to be. This is reflected in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, where Apricorns are one of the crafting materials for Poke Balls since modern technology does not exist in the Hisui Region.

As mentioned, Pokemon Legends: Arceus only has one type of Apricorn: Brown Apricorns. No matter the type of Poke Ball, all Poke Ball crafting recipes require Brown Apricorns. Fans familiar with the series may know that to get a special Poke Ball like a Heavy Ball, they would need Black Apricorns. Pokemon Legends: Arceus does away with the different types of Apricorns by requiring trainers to farm Tumblestones instead. For example: The Heavy Ball recipe requires one Apricorn and one Black Tumblestone.

Trainers will receive the Poke Ball crafting recipe when they complete "The Galaxy Team's Entry Trial" Mission. Crafting is a part of the following Mission, "Basics of Crafting." Once players start working on the following Mission, "Getting to Work on Research Tasks," they'll receive the Crafting Kit from Akari/Rei.

Some recipes that require Apricorns are the following:

There are three different methods of getting Apricorns in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

The easiest way to get Apricorns is by exploring the Hisui region and having their Pokemon attack specific trees. In the Hisui region, there are Berry Trees and Apricorn Trees. Though they look similar, Apricorn Trees have beige-colored Apricorns hanging from their branches while Berry Trees have pale-blue Berries hanging from theirs.

Each time an Apricorn Tree is shaken, players will receive a total of five Apricorns. Since Apricorn Trees are literally everywhere in the fields, this is the fastest and easiest way to farm them.

A similar item called Spoiled Apricorns appear green in color and have various holes in their bodies. These can't be used to craft Poke Balls, but they can be used to stun wild Pokemon, making it easier to perform a Back Strike. Spoiled Apricorns and Apricorns are part of two different categories, meaning they won't stack together and will take up two different slots in the satchel.

For those who don't mind spending money, Apricorns can be bought or harvested in Jubilife Village.

Since money is difficult to come by in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it may be better to just gather Apricorns from the trees in the wild. Remember 1 Apricorn means 1 Poke Ball, so it's a good idea to buy/farm Apricorns in bulk to have the necessary materials for crafting Poke Balls out in the field.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
