If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

It’s not the heat it’s the humidity

It is the humidity.  But it’s also the heat. Be careful.

Extreme heat can be not just uncomfortable but deadly. And it'll mess with the human psyche too.

Don’t overdo things.  And hydrate. Lots and lots of water. And then more water.

Humidity is the amount of moisture in the air. The more, the worse it feels. Dew point in the 60s.  That’s a lot of humidity. Dewpoint is a much better gauge of air moisture than relative humidity. It is the language spoken by meteorologists and weather nerds.

So since it is ‘hotter than July’, the hot and humid weather is forecast to continue for the foreseeable future. The 80s and lower 90s at least into the weekend. No relief. We all have to do whatever it takes to stay cool.

The average temperature in July in Maine is 80.

At least we are not close to the hottest day ever in Maine history. The highest all-time hottest temperature was 105. That happened in North Bridgton, Maine on July 10th, 1911.

And while we’re at it maybe this will make it feel like a cold front came through.

The All-time lowest temperature was 50 below.-50° F  on Big Black River in Northern Maine on the Quebec border. In 2009.

Yogi Berra didn’t say It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.  He said It’s not the heat, it’s the humility.  He had some doozie misquotes, but that’s for another day.

Stay as cool as you can. Like the other side of the pillow.  Like the water in a swimming pool.
